POSITION TITLE: Executive Director/Chief Executive

PROGRAM: Agency Administration

REPORTS TO: Board of Directors

LOCATION: Neighborhood Center – 400 S.E. 8 th Street, Evansville, Indiana

STATUS: Full time, exempt position

SALARY: Commensurate with experience (salary range is $80,000 to $100,000)

SUMMARY: The Executive Director is responsible for giving direction and leadership toward the achievement of the organization's philosophy, mission, strategy, and its annual goals and objectives. As well, with the board chair, he or she should enable the Board to fulfill its governance function.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Board Administration and Support -- Supports operations and administration of Board by advising and informing Board members, interfacing between Board and staff, and supporting Board's evaluation of chief executive;
  • Program, Product and Service Delivery -- Oversees design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of programs, products and services;
  • Financial, Tax, Risk and Facilities Management – Recommends yearly budget for Board approval and prudently manages organization's resources within those budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations;
  • Human Resource Management -- Effectively onboards, recruits, develops and manages staff according to authorized personnel policies and procedures that fully conform to current laws and regulations;
  • Community and Public Relations -- Assures the organization and its mission, programs, products, and services are consistently presented in strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders;
  • Fundraising (nonprofit-specific) -- Oversees grant writing, fundraising planning and implementation, including identifying resource requirements, researching funding sources, establishing strategies to approach funders, submitting proposals and administrating fundraising records and documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Alignment with Carver values, belief in Carver’s mission and the drive and ability to compellingly tell Carver’s story;
  • Must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in public administration, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred;
  • Strong management and supervisory skills and experience;
  • Demonstrates leadership ability in strategizing and coalition building;
  • Demonstrates effectiveness and lead experience in fund development;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to prepare and manage a budget;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite as well as database development and management;
